LES Studio Program

LES Studio Program is a studio residency designed to strategically to benefit artists by giving studio access for the development of new work. We provide professional development through studios visits and exposure to the broader community with our Open Studios for the artists in residence. Eight artists are selected through an open call process each year and provided with free studio space for a six month cycle. The residency culminates with an exhibition at Cuchifritos Gallery/Project Space to present their work, organized by a guest curator.

Located in the vibrant, multicultural neighborhood of the Lower East Side, the Artists Alliance Studio Programs underscore our mission to support the careers of emerging and mid-career artists working in all fields. The LES Studio Program is open to underrepresented, emerging and mid-career artists from all cultural backgrounds and disciplines – painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation and new media will be accepted.

Beginning in 2011, Artists Alliance and Residency Unlimited joined forces to support each other’s programs. Residency Unlimited will provide studio visits and specific networking support to the artists participating in the Lower East Side Studio Program. As part of the exchange and ourArt(Inter) Actions program, Residency Unlimited programs each year an exhibition of new work at Cuchifritos from its  roster of international artists in residency.
