Torie Zalben lives and works in Los Angeles and New York. She earned her B.A. at Loyola Marymount University and her M.A. at New York University. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States, Istanbul, Berlin, and an upcoming group exhibition in Japan at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her photographs sit in NYU’s Gallaltin School of Individualized Study permanent collection as well as in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
Her work explores saturated color tones and abstracted imagery to evoke the spaces between varied states of awareness. Her art practice utilizes an interdisciplinary methodology that combines digital photography and mapping technology (video, lenticular, photography, and 3D fabrications).
Zalben has been nominated as an Emerging Artist by Rema Hort Mann and has created limited edition works for organizations such as Project Angel Food, The Art of Elysium, The David Lynch Foundation, The Kara Love Project and affiliated with The Kranzberg Arts Foundation, The Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts and more. Her work can be seen on MTV’s The Hills and HBO’s Divorce. She has been featured in Vogue, White Hot, Artillery, Art Newspaper, and KCET.
She is currently working on a new series of videos, holographic and digital works to further her study of emerging technologies. She recently launched TZ Projects, a drive-by video art exhibition, to foster community during these transformative times.
